INLS 382 System Analysis and Design Semester Project: MediTrack

September - December 2024

For the semester long group project for INLS 382: System Analysis and Design, we worked on a project to create an application for medicine tracking and alerts called MediTrack. This project uses business analysis, system study, system implementation, and UI/UX Design.

Tools: Figma

01. Summary

As someone who has a combination of daily medications and supplements prescribed by doctors, it can be difficult to remember the exact regimen, including whether to take them with food or at what time and what dose. This may result in dosages being missed or administered incorrectly, which could have detrimental effects on health. Our team is considering creating a medication/supplement management software that would let users enter their prescriptions, determine the dosage, create reminders, and keep track of their intake in order to address this. To make sure users follow their prescription schedules, the app will offer timely notifications.

The software can also be improved by adding features like warnings to medical professionals in the case that a patient overlooks a crucial dosage, which might avert potentially fatal circumstances. The software might also enable automatic prescription updates and refill notifications by collaborating with pharmacies. Our ultimate goal is to lessen the cognitive burden of monitoring numerous prescriptions while enhancing users' quality of life by smoothly integrating into their everyday routines.

BIOGRAPHY

Alba Castro is a full-time university student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and she is also a part-time employee at Chick-fil-a where she works around 25 hours each week. Apart from work and school, Alba is also part of multiple clubs and volunteers in her local government as part of her Political Science Degree. Alba has a full and tight-knit schedule, that often interferes with her taking her daily medications and supplements on time, or even at all on days where she forgets.

Alba needs to be reminded about taking her medications and is constantly trying to contact her doctors about medicine information.
